Forced To Take Breaks: Another Benefit To Owning A Cat

Happily unaware of my deadlines or stresses, my cat will come to me at any point during the day and demand my attention.

Rusty (my orange cat) will sit directly on whatever I was doing, and nuzzle my face so that I have to stop. It seems to be a common thing among pets. Since they don't live by our time rules, they unquestioningly demand love at any moment.

And who could refuse a purring kitty?

I almost always stop and take a few minutes to pet my pet and feel the mutual love. During these times my work is forgotten and I am brought back to the present moment.

It is an unexpected refresher and a break that I am grateful for.

Although Rusty may not know it, he is hugely helpful in keeping me relaxed, and grounding my perspective. I am so glad to have him to force me to take breaks!
